本年（令和6年）は、東京大空襲被災79周年、第80回目の3月10日を迎えます。
日本が戦争をしていたことを知らない世代が増えていく中、あの日に起きた出来事を、そしていまも世界で起きている哀しい現実を、どのように後世への教訓として伝えていくか、そのことの意義がいま改めて問われています。
原爆が投下された広島・長崎をはじめ、本土空襲・沖縄戦の被災地では毎年のように様々な追悼行事が営まれ、戦争の記憶を語り継ぎ、若い世代に戦争の愚かさ、平和の尊さを伝えていく活動が続けられています。
3月9日・10日の東京大空襲では、台東区・墨田区の下町が焦土と化し、当山檀徒も多く犠牲となりました。過去帳には、3月10日だけでも41名の物故者の記録があり、当山では毎年、空襲のあった正当日（3月10日）と春季彼岸会法要（春分の日）にて慰霊追善の供養を営んでおります。
巷では戦争を肯定するような発言、戦争を美化するような文化が満ちあふれる今日、戦争を知らない世代は、こうした営みを通して、戦争で犠牲となった多くの方々やその遺族の無念の思いに寄り添い、戦争の悲しさ、恐ろしさを自らの身に引き当てて考えることができます。
改めて、大空襲で亡くなられたすべての犠牲者に対し追悼の意を捧げますとともに、この地で亡くなられた人々の、この苦しい、悲しい末期が、世界の人々の心を動かし、二度と同じ悲劇を繰り返してはならない、いかなる暴力も蛮行も許さないという段階にまで人類を導いてくれることを切に願います。

This year, 2024, marks March 10, the 80th anniversary of the tragic air raid on Tokyo.
As an increasing number of people in our generation do not know that Japan was at war, the significance of how we pass on the events of that day and the sad reality of what is still happening in the world today as a lesson to future generations is being questioned once again.
Various memorial events are held every year in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where the atomic bombs were dropped, as well as in the areas hit by air raids on the mainland and the Battle of Okinawa, to pass on the memory of the war and to teach the younger generation the foolishness of war and the preciousness of peace.
In the Tokyo air raids of March 9 and 10, the downtown areas of Taito and Sumida wards were scorched to the ground, and many of the parishioners of Yoden-ji Temple were also killed. This temple has a record of 41 people who died on March 10 alone, and every year, a memorial service is held at Yodenji Temple.
In today's culture, which is full of war-affirming statements and glorification of war, the generation that has never known war can reflect on the sadness and horror of war through these activities and by thinking about the regret of the many victims of war and their bereaved families.
Once again, we offer our condolences to all the victims of the Great Air Raid, and we sincerely hope that the painful and sad final days of those who died here will move the hearts of the people of the world and lead humanity to a stage where we will not tolerate any violence or barbarism.
