入谷朝顔まつり（旧、入谷朝顔市）は、毎年、七夕をはさむ7月6・7・8日の三日間開催される日本最大の朝顔市です。入谷鬼子母神（本門法華宗・眞源寺）や言問通り（ことといどおり）沿いには数多くの朝顔業者や縁日の露店が並び、毎年約40万人もの人出で賑わいます。
入谷の朝顔が世に知られるようになったのは、江戸時代末期。最初は御徒町（おかちまち）で栽培されていた朝顔が、時代の変遷とともに入谷の植木屋でも造られるようになり、入谷の地で市が開かれるようになったと言われます。
明治中期になるとその出来栄えの素晴らしさから、鑑賞用として広く知られるようになりました。その後、大正時代に一時中断した朝顔市ですが、戦後、朝顔同好会（現、朝顔実行委員会）により再開され、今日に至ります。
江戸時代から夏の風物詩として江戸っ子に親しまれてきた朝顔。時代を超えて、江戸の夏が感じられる三日間です。是非、お越しください。

The Iriya Morning Glory Festival is the largest morning glory market in Japan, held annually for three days on July 6, 7, and 8, which falls on the Tanabata Festival.
Morning glories are believed to bring good luck because of their broad, spreading shape, and because they were originally introduced as medicinal herbs, they have been popular as a good-luck charm to ensure good health during the hot summer months.
The language of flowers is said to mean "bonds of affection" because of the way the vines wrap around and grow. In recent years, some people buy it as a lucky charm to improve their luck in love.
